Easter Bento Babies

I made up this cute Easter Bunny Bento lunch ready for Sammy's last day at preschool before the Easter holidays.

Complete with a hummus rabbit face, a cheese nest and seaweed covered peanuts!

There are some sweet things in this lunch but no chocolate! The house is about to be bursting with chocolate of every description, so this Bento Babies box was a great way to stuff him full of good things. If you are making this for an under one year old then substitute the nuts for grapes.

I would love to see your creations. Link in your Bento lunch boxes or teas ideas in the comments! You can have a peek at my green feast for St Patrick's Day here and my Airport themed lunch here.

If you are looking for a good sized lunch box then this one from Sistema is perfect. 2 layers and tall enough for the silicone cake cups, not to get squashed.

Have a wonderful Easter time. We are off to Southbourne for an egg hunt at the beach hut!

St Patrick’s Day Bento Babies

Celebrate the day of St Patrick on Sunday with a brilliant Bento lunch or tea!

I love the idea of a single colour Bento and St Patrick’s Day gives you the perfect excuse to get them eating greens.

I will definitely make this up again for a rainbow week and involve Sammy by encouraging him to pick a colour for each day of the week. I’ll save the sweet picks and leprechauns to use again next year.

Featured in this Bento Babies box:

  • Pistachio nuts
  • Honeydew melon chunks
  • Sliced cucumber (cut it out with a flower shaped cookie cutter for a shamrock shape)
  • Biscuit mushrooms
  • Celery sticks
  • Cheese and onion quiche square
  • Green pepper shamrock (cut the end off then slice thinly)
  • Thinly sliced green beans (to look like grass)
  • Dried apple worms
  • Cheesy goldfish (an American purchase – substitute with green fruit loop cereal)
  • Dried apple crisps
  • Green grapes
  • Cous cous
  • Green and yellow real fruit jellies
  • Raw broccoli

What a feast! And not a single slice of bread.

It’s great to get little and bigger ones experimenting with flavours and textures, so little portions of so many different foods can really expand their palette.

What else would you add that was green? My boys aren’t big kiwi fans which is a shame!

Airport Bento
BentoBabies-with-Capture-by-Lucy.jpg

Welcome to my new blog feature - Bento Babies! What could be more fun when you have just come back from a holiday than an airport themed lunch!

Sammy met us at Heathrow last month after his holiday with Granny and our trip to America!

His first preschool lunch after we got home featured:

    • aeroplane shaped ham sandwiches
    • celery chunks
    • a shot of grape juice
    • peanut butter cracker stacks
    • dried mango
    • fruit jellies
    • vegetable crisps

I raided the playmobil airport set too for some sweet extras in his suitcase box! The flags were perfect skewers too. He ate the lot!
