Wonderful Wedding Wednesday • Winter Wedding Ideas

When I saw the weather forecast earlier this week, predicting severe chilly wintry weather and possible blankets of snow, I knew this week's Wonderful Wedding Wednesday post was going to inspired by all things white!

I've said before, that as a little girl, I had always imagined a Summer wedding, but when you take a look at some of this inspiration I am totally sold on the idea of a cosy celebration in the lead up to Christmas.

There is something magical about photos in the snow don't you think? You can find all these beautiful images here.

My Mum got married again on the 1st December and the Christmas tree had just gone up at the venue!

There's something so romantic about filling a room with candles and fairy lights that seems so appropriate in the Winter.

I hope that if there are any brides getting married over the next couple of weeks they get wonderful sunny but chilly days.

I always post about wedding inspiration on a Wednesday to support The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, an amazing charity raising money and organising weddings for terminally ill brides and grooms.

Take a minute out of your day to read about what they do and tell someone.

Awareness is just as important as donations because the more people who know about this great cause the more money they will raise in the future.

Because not everyone has the luxury of choosing the season they get married in, for some people, the people applying to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, they simply want to be husband and wife.

What could be better than knowing your £1 helped make that happen?

Happy Wednesday everyone and don't forget your gloves - it's chilly out there!

The Daily Mail Inspirational Woman of the Year - Naomi Thomas

I couldn't be more proud to share the incredible news that yesterday, Naomi Thomas, the founder of The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, who I support every Wednesday on this blog with my Wonderful Wedding Wednesday posts, was crowned The Daily Mail Inspirational Woman of the Year 2013!

Naomi tirelessly camapaigns, even when her own cancer battle no doubt makes her so tired she just needs to think of herself. She doesn't.

Everyday she pours her heart in raising money for terminally ill people to have the wedding of their dreams like she did.

She is so deserving of this award and I am thrilled all her hard work has been recognised at a National level.

Naomi - you are a credit to the industry, a credit to your family and I couldn't be more inspired by you.

You can see the full article here.

Please join me in congratulating Naomi! You can find The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation on Facebook and Twitter.

But I know what she would really like, as well as a lovely message, is £1.

Less than the price of a loaf of bread at the petrol station, to a charity who desperately wants to help as many people as they can have their special day.

You can donate here

Naomi, in her spare 5 minutes (What spare 5 minutes?!) has also founded a brand new regional wedding industry awards, The Bristol and Somerset Wedding Awards to recognise the talent of local suppliers.

The awards are open for suppliers to enter and clients are invited to vote for them, to ensure no matter what size of business you are, your talent can be rewarded.

Entries close on the 16th December so if you are a wedding industry bod in Brizzle get your skates on!

Wonderful Wedding Wednesday • Pretty Nostalgic Gathering - The Wedding Room

There are some rooms that you walk into and just gasp. Out loud. Unashamedly.

Pretty Nostalgic Wedding Room.jpg

When I crept into the Wedding Room of the Pretty Nostalgic Gathering at Kings Weston House, I literally had to take a sharp intake of breath.

Everyone was in a theatre set up style room listening to Annabel from the award winning Love my Dress blog and I was tending to two small boys.

Once they and my husband were set up with home made millionaire's shortbread, I scooted off to one of the side rooms which was bursting with some of the South West's most beautiful wedding vendors.

You could hear a pin drop in the room on account of the lack of people and whilst I was terribly disappointed to miss Annabel's talk, it gave me 15 minutes alone with my camera. And the most wonderful things to photograph.

Pretty Nostalgic Gathering - Chocolate Delores.jpg

Cakes from Chocolate Delores that defy belief, styling that makes your eyes flick wildly from side to side because there is so much to take in, corsets from Lisa Keating and couture vintage dresses you just had to run your fingers down and props from Bristol Vintage. Lots of props. I was in heaven.

Then suddenly the room came alive with hustle and bustle as everyone piled out of the lecture room and I was thrilled to finally meet Frankie from Love Audrey, (tea date to be fixed up soon!) chat to Annabel and buy her beautiful book.

I am not getting married but I find her book full of inspiration for this blog.

I was quite frankly stunned by the quality of each table and the work of Kirsten, The Little Wedding Helper, was all around me.

The gathering itself was teeming with creative individuals, crafters and bloggers. But I took far too many photos to get them all into one post.

So enjoy this Part 1 and help support The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation.

This gathering celebrated local talent. Every Wednesday I support the work of an incredibly talented individual, so much so, her effort has been recognised by the national Daily Mail Inspirational Women of the Year Awards. 5 finalists have been chosen and will meet Samantha Cameron next Monday. The winner will be announced on the 11th November. Naomi - I couldn't think of anyone more deserving.

You can read Naomi's story here and I defy anyone not to be inspired to donate £1 after reading it.
