Orange Blossom & Apricot Summer Spritzer Cocktail

We are getting in the holiday spirit this week. This time next week we will be on board a British Airways plane heading for sunny Spain with our best friends and Sammy's sweetheart!

We are perfect holiday companions, I almost need to write a thank you for a lovely holiday card, before we even get on the plane!

We made up this little cocktail after stopping at the local farm shop. Oranges and apricots a plenty and a great excuse to use the orange blossom water, I have had stashed in the cupboard.

My favourite cocktail recipes are ones that don't require precise measuring!  So you can make this alcohol free or as punchy as you like.

It's a big week this week as it's the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards Ceremony in London. Whilst I think I haven't got a hope of winning, you could vote for me in the Loved by Parents Blogger of the Year Awards! Click here to vote.

Much love!

Cheat's Party Lollies Number 2 - Fruit Pop Wands

I love easy but effective ideas.

Pinterest is full of them! Fruit Pops are the latest easy party idea and here are my versions - Fruit Wands!

I found it impossible to cut out several layers easily and fit them together, keeping the paper straw intact whilst threading them on, so I recommend sticking to one shape - stars are my favourite. More wand like!

My tip would be to make sure you use a thick enough slice of fruit so that it doesn't split on the straw. Pre sliced pineapple rings are definitely too thin!

Happy Saturday all, we are off to the Bristol Festival of Nature, I'll be heading straight to the vintage and handmade market section run by Magpies and I

Homemade Mini Milks

There are lots of things I am trying to teach my son before he starts school in September. To get him ready for being a big boy at big boy school. One of them is to use a knife and fork. For such a long time I have set the table with a spoon and a fork but now he is almost 4 it’s time to know how to use a knife!

We made these sweet healthy lollies as a way to involve him in a simple recipe and he was very proud of his cutting skills! It’s good hand eye coordination practice and teaches them to take care and be precise. You can also use it as a safety lesson about being very careful with knives!

They wrote on wide lolly sticks which fruit was in which lolly and then we added milk to half of them and yoghurt to the others. There was no need for any added sweeteners!

Leave your lollies in the freezer for 4 hours and enjoy. The kiwi was my favourite.

A delicious way to help with motor skills, growing up skills with a healthy treat as a reward!

Ingredients:

  • Fruit
  • Milk
  • Yoghurt
  • Lolly Moulds
  • Lolly Sticks (unless your mould comes complete with plastic sticks)
