Doctor Ollie's Disco

I have been completely obsessed with the idea of Doctor's and Nurses this week! But much to my husband's disappointment it all centres around the small boy's birthday!

Yes I know my small boy won't turn 2 until next July. But you can never be too prepared!

I will research ideas for the next few months and collate them all here. I will start buying bits and bobs to hide in the bottom of the wardrobe and by the time July comes around I will have hoarded my party supplies without a big bill, all in one go!

I have never seen a Doctor theme for a children's party and even my beloved Pinterest only has a few examples so I can't wait to share his party next year, as it is a great idea to try!

You can hire (for an extortionate amount) a giant game of operation! But I will be making our own from old cardboard boxes! Think hook a duck but hook an organ!

Bandage races with toilet roll and fake blood face paints! Love the idea of using sample pots of apple juice for drinks! Disgusting but the boys will love it! Red and white balloons for blood cells, pin the plaster on the patient and a name badge making station. We will turn the hall into a ward for an afternoon.

Oh and we just have to have DJ Billy Chapz! Small boy has some serious moves already and by the time he turns 2, I suspect he will be break dancing!

What do you think of the Doctors and Nurses theme? Any other good ideas of games for me?!

Introducing a bright young thing

My big boy had an amazing time at a friend's 3rd Birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Not only was there 2 bouncy castles and crafts and enough party food to sink a ship there was a disco. A disco! I loved it! More than him I think!

All the children adored it, even the babies who were determined to flap about like chickens even though they were still unsteady on their feet.

The best thing was the DJ. Let me introduce DJ Billy Chapz. He is 10 years old and goes to the local Primary School. I was so impressed. He was professional, friendly really enthusiastic and has had DJ equipment for as many Birthdays and Christmas' as he can remember. He plays a dvd of photographs on a screen in front of his decks and you can provide as many as you want.

At £10 an hour he is a steal too!

His Mum or Dad stay with him the whole time and he is now the resident DJ at his school!

I can't wait for our first DJ Billy Chapz disco. I'm thinking Valentines!

My best friend's brilliant birthday party idea

Because we had a family party on Sunday we missed one of the boy's special friend's 5th birthday party. Our best friends held what sounded like a fab party in the local village hall (my favourite kind of party) and I asked if I could share my friend's amazing idea!

Forget your everyday party bags, they had a balloon tree!

Take a helium balloon and place a plastic weight on the end. Place it in a party cup and pour your party bag fillers and sweets over the top. Arrange the cups on a cake stand and ta daa! A stunning and simple idea that is a show stopper!

ps I'm going to join forces with my best pal and post our top tips for a village hall party so watch out for it!
