Would you want a gender reveal party?!
gendercake.jpg

I read this article this morning on the Daily Mail website. Apparently, gender reveal parties, where you slice into a piece of cake with coloured sponge in the middle, before your family and friends, are sweeping the nation by storm!

The sponge is either coloured blue or pink and you all get to find out the sex of the baby at the same time!

I can't imagine how hard it must be to have a complete stranger (apart from the sonographer) know the gender of your future bundle of joy before you do!

We had surprises for both our boys. For me, it was the thing that kept me focussed through my labours, to push that baby out, so I could know what it was!

My cousin in law recently had a little boy to complete their family, and they have an almost 3 year old little girl. They found out at the 20 week scan that he was a chap and I can honestly say it didn't appear to take any of the magic away at all! In fact we have been deliriously excited waiting for him to come and I have given her all of my baby boy bits so they are kitted out for blue!

I think, if I we had found out the sex of our babies, I would have wanted it to be a moment just between me and my husband. How lovely though that the lady in the article was willing to share that precious moment with all her family and friends. Saying that my Mum was with us when big boy was born! She was going to leave the room just as the baby arrived but as we had gone through 24 hours together, my husband said no way you have to stay!

Any pregnant mummies fancy a gender reveal party? Would you have one next time round?!

Coincidence?! Photo a day May

I couldn't believe it when I saw that today's Fat Mum Slim's photo a day May, theme is snack. I am sat in the lounge, painstakingly adding spotty dots, to the snack pots for my big boy's party, next weekend. 30 down, 22 to go!

Perfect!

The big ones are for pom-bear 'brave bear' crisps and the little ones for 'pet's' popcorn! (It's a Wonder Pets theme!)

They are actually grow your own fibre pots from B & Q but they work perfectly and were a bargain!

God save the Queen - Photo a Day May

We have been asked to bring in pictures of the Queen at preschool, as they are learning about the Jubilee. I popped to a local charity shop and found a book on the Golden Jubilee for 50p!

I sat with my big boy and we went through all the pictures, cutting out the ones he liked (mostly with animals in!).

So tonight, I will be reading big boy's 'Book about our Queen'

My photo a day May entry for Fat Mum Slim's photo challenge!
