Happy Home Tour Part 1 - Living Room
Welcome to our home!
Part 1 of the Happy Home Tour starts in the living room.
It's taken almost as long as we have lived in the house, (9 years on 11th May) to get the living room the way we really wanted it.
We have a lovely kitchen which doubles as a family room, which meant that for a long time, the living room was unloved and unused. When Ollie came along we realised how much we treasured an adult space and whilst there are often hidden bags of charity shop purchases lurking behind the door, and the dregs of a blog photo shoot behind the sofa, it is a calm and peaceful room.
My favourite feature, apart from the fireplace, is the painted console table. Yes it's cluttered, but I adore it. I keep my scrap book paper in the wooden tool box and my Granny's suitcase rests on top.
In a room of neutral colours there is just a hint of green in the cushions and the flowers. I love that I can change the feel of the room, just by changing the flowers, depending on the season.
I know compared to lots of people it must seem like we have a tiny television, but honestly we hardly use it. We are big Apple tv fans in this house (anyone else obsessed with MadMen?). The best thing we did was put in an open fire and we have used it all winter. I love hanging bunting across the fireplace and whilst it may be too plain for some, it is an escape from the rest of the house which is covered in trains and dressing up!
There are 3 projects left to finish. A storage unit for my stack of photo albums, a new large window frame photograph frame and a wall hanging. I'll be sharing them over the next couple of weeks.
